The course contains 2 formative assessments and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) to ensure a ‘safe beginner’ level is reached.
Important Information
Applicants must be GDC registered.
Attendance at both sessions are mandatory.
The practical skills for this competency will be achieved through the support, training, advice, and observation from a GDC registered Dentist or Hygiene Therapist who will act as the Dental Nurse work-based clinical supervisor. Day 1 - Thursday 29th February 2024, 09:30-16:30

Speaker biography
Julia Armstrong; Julia is lead tutor in Workforce, Training & Education Directorate at NHS England and is Programme Lead for Oral Health Practitioners at Leeds Dental School. She supports dental practices in Foundation Training and is a subject matter expert with the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses.
Aims:
To provide theoretical knowledge and the practical skills required for the dental nurse to competently measure and record plaque indices and apply topical fluoride to children and adult patients on the prescription from a dentist.
