To discuss the management of first permanent molars, with poor prognosis, in children following their assessment.

During the session the course provider will:

• Outline assessment, diagnosis and orthodontic considerations of poor prognosis first permanent molars in children due to caries or enamel defects.
• Provide an overview of treatment options for poor prognosis first permanent molars.
• Discuss referral of patients requiring specialist input.

Following the session delegate will be able to:

• Recall information on how to assess and diagnose first permanent molars with poor prognosis in children.
• Consider orthodontic implications with regards to timing of treatment.
• Be able to offer treatment options to patients, including when to refer for specialist input.
