Course Structure:

This course will comprise of 5 parts. Please note that part 1 will happen all on the same day and have a session in the morning and afternoon. Please find the course title, location and dates below. 

Part 1A: Introduction to Periodontology Principles and Assessment and Diagnosis (Online Via Zoom with Nick Barker 13/10/2023 09:30-12:30) 

Part 1B: Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning (Online Via Zoom with Robert Ratcliffe 13/10/2023 13:30-16:30)

Part 2: No Surgical Versus Surgical Management (Online Via Zoom with Robert Ratcliffe 03/11/2023 09:30-16:30)

Part 3:Periodontal Restorative Interface (Online Via Zoom with Hiten Pabari 01/12/2023 09:30-16:30)

Part 4:Assessment, Diagnosis and Non Surgical Management (Face to Face Hands On Session, Ipswich Hospital, Education Centre Dental Skills Room with Robert Ratcliffe and Nick Barker 05/01/2024 09:30-16:30)

Aims:

  • Explain the evidence base for good practice periodontics within a dental team
    Demonstrate skills in respect of non-surgical and surgical management of periodontal disease within a dental team
    Critically appraise one’s own skills in periodontics and reflect on areas for development

Learning Objectives 

Describe the evidence base in good practice periodontics in a team approach

Demonstrate both non-surgical and surgical skills in treatment of periodontal disease whilst working within a dental team

Appraise learners’ skills and competencies through reflection for personal development in respect of periodontology


Learning outcomes:

Understand the periodontal diagnostic process

Confidently apply the theory to develop periodontal treatment plans

Feel more competent in application of non-surgical and surgical treatment plans
