NOR019 - Oral Cancer & Potentially Malignant Oral Disease

Aims:

Course Aim: Small group teaching for Dentists in the area of oral cancer and potentially malignant oral disease.

During this session the course provider will: 

  • Improve competence and confidence in the primary care management of patients with suspected oral cancer. 
  • Improve competence and confidence in the primary care management of patients with potentially malignant oral disease

Learning outcomes:

Following this session delegates will be able to: 

  • Identify lesions which are suspected oral cancer and be capable of appropriately referring such patients to specialist services. 
  • Identify which patients should be referred urgently to secondary care for potentially malignant oral conditions and how to appropriately perform such referrals.
  • Be capable of appropriately counselling patients with regards to the malignant potential of oral conditions, such as oral lichen planus.
