During the session the course provider will:
Explore the overlap between medical and dental conditions, and how the diagnosis and treatment of each is influenced by the other.
Outline the ways in which the doctor and the dentist currently communicate on patient care, open up discussion on barriers which each profession encounters in this, and develop strategies to overcome these barriers.
Workshop the lived experiences of doctors and dentists who have encountered difficulties in providing optimal patient care, and build professional relationships to address these difficulties.
Learning outcomes:
Following the session delegates will be able to:
Evaluate their current system of MDT communication between the medical and dental teams, and implement minor changes which will be of benefit to the patient, and reduce the stresses on the clinicians.
Justify their approach to integrated patient care based on an increased understanding of the difficulties which other specialities encounter from them, and which they encounter from other specialities.
Create new working relationships to reduce the artificial separation between the health of the mouth, and the health of the overall patient.
