Dr Jason Wong BDS Birm Eng, 1995, DPDS Bristol Eng, 2011, GDC70920
Jason Wong qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1995. He joined the
practice soon after and became a partner at the practice in 1998.
Jason was awarded a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies by Bristol Dental
School in 2011 and a Certificate in Clinical Education in 2012.
Jason carries out treatment in all areas of General Dentistry and has 2 main
areas of clinical special interests, Dental Implantology and the treatment of
nervous patients.
He has been involved with implant Dentistry since 2000 initially restoring them
then carrying out the surgery. He is a member of the association of Dental
Implantology (UK) and also the International team for Implantology (ITI) and
runs an ITI study club for Dentists on Implantology.
Jason is a member of the society for the Advancement of anaesthesia in
Dentistry and also the British Society of Medical and Dental hypnosis and is
experienced in devising treatment options for anxious and phobic patients.
Jason is involved in Postgraduate Dental Education including training of
graduate foundation Dentists for whom he lectures frequently.
Jason is also active in other areas of Dentistry and spends some of his time as
a member of the Lincolnshire Local Dental Committee.
Jason is currently the Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England
Jason has 2 children and in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family.


Aims:

To enhance clinical skills to build confidence on practical Minor Oral Surgery. This course will cover difficult extractions, raising flaps and suturing.

To be able to perform surgical techniques in a simulated pig’s head model, including: raise a mucoperiosteal flap; undertake bone guttering; divide a tooth with a rotary instrument; deliver a tooth surgically; advance a periosteal release flap; practice a range of intra-oral suturing techniques

Enhance existent undergraduate skills in delivering surgical extractions

Reinforce theory and principles of surgical procedures in oral surgery

 


Learning outcomes:

Assess whether a minor oral surgery procedure will be required.
Have practical experience in dealing with simple minor oral surgery procedures in the dental
practice
