The following speakers will be delivering the course -

Jennie Ross – Associate Postgraduate Dean for Dental Workforce Development

Catriona Peterson

Catriona qualified as a dentist nearly 37 years ago.

Starting off as an associate in NHS practice over time Catriona developed what is now commonly known as a portfolio career.

Catriona purchased and developed a practice; worked as an Educational Supervisor for Foundation training and has been a Clinical Advisor since 2010 working in professional standards, commissioning and workforce development. This has, since 2016, developed into a senior leadership role across a number of different regions.

"I really enjoy the diversity of my portfolio career and making a difference to dentistry".

Adam Morby, Regional Chief Dental Office

Adam was appointed as the first ever Regional Chief Dental Officer for NHS England, in the Midlands in November 2021.

Adam has been in General Dental Practice for 30 years, experiencing dentistry from both aspects as a Provider and still as a Performer one day a week whilst in the role of Regional Chief Dental Officer.

After graduating with a B.Sc. from Keele University in Biochemistry, Adam went on to graduate from Birmingham University Dental School in 1993 and has since gained Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at Royal College of Surgeons England, Membership of College of Dentistry, Certificate in Appraisal of Dental Practice, Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Warwick and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee.

Over the years he has represented colleagues as a Local Dental Committee Secretary of Birmingham Local Dental Committee and then latterly as Chairman and Secretary of South Staffordshire Local Dental Committee stretching over a period of 25 years. He has worked with NHS England as a Dental Practice Adviser, an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dentists for 17 years, represented Staffordshire at the General Dental Practice Committee of the British Dental Association, from its inception in 2003 to 2021 and was a member of the Representative Body of the BDA. Working in these varied roles and having been both a practice owner, provider and current performer has given a unique perspective and understanding of the benefits and challenges realised as a general dental practitioner.

The role of Regional Chief Dentist now sees him working in collaboration with Integrated Care Systems, Regional teams, Local Authorities, Workforce Training & Education, and other stakeholders. This enables the provision of system wide clinical leadership and support for strategic vision and to aid pathway development for improved delivery of services and outcomes for patients, whilst championing the role of dentists and the integration of oral health with the four pillars of primary care.

Pavni Lakhani, Local Dental Network Chair, Nottinghamshire

Pavni qualified as a dentist from King's College London and has international dental experience from working in New Zealand with a career portfolio spanning general dental practice, special care and paediatric dentistry.

Pavni is currently the Local Dental Network (LDN) chair for Nottingham & Nottinghamshire and the chief editor for the East Midlands and West Midlands LDN newsletters distributed across all dental providers in the Midlands.
