Increase your confidence/competence in dealing with complex/surgical extractions

Information:

AIMS 

  • Update knowledge on oral surgery 
  • Discuss strategies for the best practice management of the oral surgery patient and review current guidelines including  COVID-19 related SOPs and how to apply them in a primary care setting 
  • Offer tips & recommendations on comprehensive patient & case complexity assessment. 
  • Understand the principles of care & operative planning including LA techniques, anxiety management, instrument selection, flap designs as well as the application of the most appropriate exodontia techniques. 
  • Describe good practice in facilitating informed consent through supported decision-making  
  • Improve the management of the medically compromised patient requiring oral surgery 
  • Through a series of hands on simulations practice essential oral surgery skills such as sectioning multi rooted teeth, raising mucoperiosteal flaps, removing supporting bone and utilising different suturing techniques.  
  • Through an interactive case based discussion share experiences highlighting interesting cases & near misses
  • Incorporate the use of huddles, locSSIPs & team debriefing in daily oral surgery practice. 
  • Raise awareness of the benefits of 
  • Describe the guidance on the London region referral criteria & preferred patient pathways
  • Discuss best practice in utilising peer review, mentoring & reflections in oral surgery. 
  • Discuss opportunities for further training & professional development in oral surgery
