Course Dates:

Please note this course is split over 6 days, with a mixture of 5 virtual and 2 hands-on sessions, totalling 36 hours of CPD. Learners must attend at least 3 out of the first 4 lectures to be allowed to attend the 2 hands-on days and only those who have met these requirements will then be able to attend the peer review and reflection session - delegates are however encouraged to attend all sessions if possible. 

Level 1 Periodontics – Theory (virtual courses via MS Teams):

  • 12 December 2022: 09.00-12.00 - Medico-Legal Principles (3 hours)
  • 12 December 2022: 13.00-16.00 - Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning (3 hours)
  • 9 January 2023: 09.00-16.00 - Non-Surgical versus Surgical Management (6 hours)
  • 11 January 2023: 09.00-16.00 - Periodontal-Restorative Interface (6 hours)

Level 1 Periodontics – Hands-On:

  • 3 February 2023: 09.00-16.00 - Assessment, Diagnosis and Non-Surgical Mangement (at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital)
  • 10 February 2023: 09.00-16.00 - Surgical Management (at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital)

Level 1 Periodontics – Peer Review/Evaluation:

  • 31 March 2023, 09.00-16.00 - Peer Review/Evaluation 

  

Course Fee: 

The cost for this course is £680 for Dentists and £240 for Dental Care Professionals.




Aims:

Explain the evidence base to provide good practice in respect of periodontics in a general dental practice setting with a view to developing skills and competencies towards reaching level 2. 

During this session the course providers will:

  • Explain the evidence base for good practice periodontics within a dental team
  • Demonstrate skills in respect of non-surgical and surgical management of periodontal disease within a dental team
  • Critically appraise one’s own skills in periodontics and reflect on areas for development


Learning outcomes:

Following this session delegates will be able to: 

  • Describe the evidence base in good practice periodontics in a team approach
  • Demonstrate both non-surgical and surgical skills in treatment of periodontal disease whilst working within a dental team
  • Appraise learners’ skills and competencies through reflection for personal development in respect of periodontology
