Replacement of Missing Teeth Part 1&2

Aims:

Aims: Day 1 - 7th October 2021

Provide an overview of options available for replacement of missing teeth, and reinforce clinical skills necessary for the correct diagnosis, appropriate investigation and successful management of patients with missing teeth. This session will concentrate on fixed treatment options.

Objectives:

  • Have an appreciation for the important considerations when assessing the partially dentate patient for fixed replacement options
  • Gain an understanding of the benefits and limitations of the various fixed treatment options
  • Be aware of the success and survival rates of fixed tooth replacement options
  • Be able to diagnose and manage prosthodontic failures
  • Gain hands-on experience of conventional tooth preparation for a 3-unit bridge

Engage in case-discussion to understand principles of treatment planning for fixed cases

Aims: Day 2 - 18th November 2021

To provide an overview of the replacement of missing teeth including assessment of the partially dentate patient, selection of appropriate treatment options and management of prosthodontic failures. This session will concentrate on removable treatment options.

Objectives:

  • Have an appreciation for the important considerations when assessing the partially dentate patient for removable replacement options
  • Gain an understanding of the benefits and limitations of the various removable treatment options
  • Be aware of the success and survival rates of removable tooth replacement options
  • Be able to diagnose and manage removable prosthodontic failures
  • Gain hands-on experience of denture design
  • Engage in case-discussions to understand the principles of providing successful removable treatment
