Speaker: Jason Stokes

Since 2007, Jason Stokes has been the owner of the Cathedral Street Dental Practice in Norwich. In addition, he undertakes a range of other roles including Associate Postgraduate Dean for Early Years. Jason has previously worked as a Dental Foundation Training Programme Director 2000-2020), Fitness to Practice Panel Member at the GDC (2004-2013) and former member of the Council of the GDC (2014). Jason has been elected the local representative on the BDA Principal Executive Committee (PEC) and has served in that capacity since 2014. Jason also serves as the Secretary of the Norfolk LDC.

Speaker: Nick Lamb

Nick is a general dental practitioner in Suffolk and a Senior Dental Professional Adviser to NHS England in the East of England. Nick Has also previously worked with HEE and NICE.

This course will review the current primary care NS dental rules and regulations. It will examine how these affect the day-to-day working of dentists and their teams. The course will look at other regulations beyond the NDS that impinge on the practice of NHS dental performers. The course will also explain the monitoring techniques and active 'flags' that the NS uses to assess performance.

Course objectives:

• Describe the NHS rules & regulations that underpin general dental services.
• Explain the NHS regulations and other professional regulations and guidance that apply to working as a Performer.
• Identify common pitfalls associated with the dental rules and regulations - and offer strategies for avoiding these.

Following the course you will be able to:

• Describe the NHS rules & regulation that underpin general dental service.
• Implement the Regulations and Guidance that apply to NHS General Dental Practice.
• Formulate strategies to avoid non-compliance with the relevant Regulations and Guidance.
