Course objectives:
Bring the theory of the stress response into an interactive space where delegates can learn about and experience their own physiological responses. Facilitate discussion on stress behaviors and how these can also impact back pain.
Create useful and accessible relaxation and stretching practices to encourage postural changes, to help with sleep, as well as release tension in the back, shoulders, neck and wrists.
Provide the information, techniques and deeper understanding of sustainable practices to help manage stress and reduce back pain into the future.
Learning content:
Develop an awareness of their own stress responses. Understand how stress effects the body and mind. Know how stress can impact back pain. Delegates will have time to consider and curate their own strategy for releasing muscles, managing short-term and long-term stress.
Understand how stretching benefits the body and relaxation techniques can reduce tension in the lower back. Delegates will be able to explore and experience a number of techniques from mindfulness, acupressure points, self-massage, breathing exercises, slow seated movements and stretches.
Learn accessible short practices and stretches for daily use in between patients, to reduce the impact of daily stressors. Experience techniques for encouraging sleep. Explore longer stretching and breathing practices which can be used in the evenings to cultivate calm and restoration.
