Aims:
Provide the dental team with knowledge, understanding and skills in the management of capacity and consent with patients.
Learning Objectives:
During the session the course provider will:
Provide a refresh of the Mental Capacity Act and the impact that capacity has on consent
Deliver a review of safeguarding in the dental surgery, specifically focusing on adults that lack or have fluctuating capacity
Learning outcomes:
Following the session delegates will be able to:
Describe the types of capacity and how this impacts on the provision of dental care
Explain how to apply the mental capacity act and assess capacity to consent for all patients
Demonstrate the management of adult safeguarding in the dental setting
