Tooth Surface Loss with Tooth Wear Pt 1&2

Aims:

Aims:  DAY 1

  • Provide an overview of tooth surface loss (TSL) and reinforce clinical skills necessary for the correct diagnosis, appropriate investigation and successful management patients with TSL

Objectives:

  • Review the types of TSL
  • Explore the epidemiology, aetiology and manifestation of TSL
  • Develop systematic investigation and treatment planning skills related to different TSL manifestations
  • Outline the clinical approaches and techniques for managing TSL, including creating vertical space for restoration
  • Gain an appreciation for the longevity and maintenance requirements of various TSL management strategies and the complications which may occur

Provide an interactive discussion on treatment planning for TSL patients

Aims:  DAY 2

  • Provide an overview of tooth preparation principles for tooth surface loss cases, treatment planning of the prosthodontic patient and management of failure

Objectives:

  • Develop existing understanding of the factors which contribute to the provision of successful indirect restorations for TSL cases
  • Understand importance of handpiece control and bur selection
  • Be able to relate crown preparation design to material choice
  • Understand principles of adhesion and impact on preparation design
  • Provide an interactive discussion on treatment planning for TSL patients
